The Mint Julep has been the official Kentucky Derby drink for nearly a century. And according to the official Kentucky Derby website, over 120,000 Mint Juleps are served over the two-day weekend of festivities!
The signature bourbon cocktail historically features simple syrup and mint, which once was and continues to be cherished for its medicinal properties. It is also served in a Julep cup or highball glass over crushed ice.
But with our healthier Mint Julep recipe, we took sugar out of the equation to lower calorie content. In fact, the sugar-free Mint Julep totals to less than 100 calories per serving!
So this year for the Kentucky Derby, or throughout the entire year, do not horse around with other sugary cocktails. Excite the taste buds with this Mint Julep recipe right out of the gate!
